Amber,
No, I don't disconnect the trailer.  I leave it hooked up, but drop the winch
so it's more stable and he doesn't rock it.  (He has stayed tied to an unhooked
trailer before, when I needed to make an ice run or whatever, but it's always
under supervision and with the wheels blocked with very large blocks of wood
that the tires cannot roll over.)
