Riders meetings

I'm looking for input from riders out there.  We just finished putting
on Oakland Hills Ride, and for the most part, the evaluations were quite
nice and helpful in figuring out what did and didn't work well - there's
always something we can do to improve the ride!  Anyhow, over the last
few years I had gotten the impression that the riders weren't really
interesting in a blow by blow report on the trail - I would see this
"glazed over" look envelop the group whenever I started giving details
on the map.  So this year, I just gave them the details on basic
management of the ride and what ribbons to follow, etc.  Well - there
were a few riders that were irritated that the map didn't make sense,
and I hadn't explained the trail. --Now I need to know - do you like to
hear about the details on the trail - or is it just noise?
Also, we used the evaluation sheet as the meal ticket - I really
appreciated the input I got - some suggestions that I will try to
incorporate, others that I wish I could use, but the parks won't agree
to.  But it was nice to get such quick reactions to the ride.  How do
you feel about this idea?
