Good older horse for sale

With all this talk of these neat horses for sale cheap
(well, okay... not expensive anyway)...

My husband has decided to sell his 19 year-old registered
Morgan gelding, the one I just started on limited distance
this year. No, I'm not happy with the decision.... don't
ask. But, my disappointment may allow someone to buy a
really neat horse for a really reasonable price. Fred (the
horse) and I are currently located in Reno, Nevada and this
is one of the hard decisions to be made before I head back
to school in August.

Fred has done three LDs and I was working toward his first
50 miler toward the end of the year. In fact, I'm sure he'd
be ready for a really slow 50 even sooner. He's extremely
well-trained (works cows, packs dead animals) and one of the
best trail horses I've ever ridden. He'll go through, over,
around anything. He is fairly competitive, but I wouldn't
call him hot at all... his competitiveness simply needs to
be "managed". In a ride situation, he'll over-do it if you
don't watch it. His recoveries are not bad, but he will
always need to be carefully managed in that department I'm
sure. He's improved substantially even in the last two
rides as I learn to manage him better and he gets in better
condition and learns the ropes too.

Fred really loves the endurance thing and would be a nice
horse for someone just starting out in LD heading to true
endurance. He's very sound... has gotten good vet scores.
My husband is asking $2500 for him and I'd really like to
see him go to a home where he gets ridden A LOT. He's an
excellent mountain horse and takes very good care of his
rider in rough terrain. He's also quite sensible (well,
okay... his first ride was a bit of a rodeo, but we both
learned from that and have gotten way past that now). He
doesn't buck, leap, spin and only rarely spooks (and then he
doesn't go anywhere). He's suitable for a beginning rider;
my husband had probably ridden a horse twice in his life
before buying Fred and I've had my step-daughter on him
starting when she was 11 years old.

If anyone is interested, please let me know by e-mail... or
you can call me at (775) 677-4232.
