Tevis as first 100

>how many riders attempt Tevis for their FIRST 100!

Amazing as it might be, many people who have completed the Tevis multiple
times say that the Tevis is a good first 100 'cause they take such good
care of you and the vetting is outstanding. The vets pull horses that are
questionable at all. This trail has miles of tough terraine and the last
thing the vets want is a horse in trouble in a hard to reach location.
Also the advance information supplied to the entrants is outstanding. The
trail is well used by horses, bikes, hikers and runners. The Western
States Run is 6/26 so this trail is very well maintained. This is probably
the best ride in the world to prepare for if you are so inclined from the
Tevis Fun Ride in April to the Clinic , to the lst time riders pre- ride.
I have not ridden the Tevis but have done other 100's. Will let you know
if this assessment is accurate IMO. IMO opinion, the lower than average
completion rate is mainly 'cause of the tough vetting.
