NATRC Etc

I personally would prefer endurance to competetive trail rides.  However,
several years ago, I served as secretary to both horse (vets) and rider
judges.  I never saw any obstacles such as the ones that have been
described in this thread.  However, I learned alot that I have applied to
my riding and horse management.  I found that quite often when the vet
found problems with the horse, these problems coincided with problems the
other judge found with the rider/handler.  Based on that experience, I
think that many riders could learn alot by participating in NATRC, or its
equivalent.
