CTR rides not the same everywhere

Hey, let's not confuse poor Sandy. All CTR is not NATRC. Isn't Florida
covered by ECTRA? Or do they have their own assoc. like Ohio does? I
know that ECTRA's rules are very different from NATRC's. I haven't
memorized AHAO's, but they seem to follow the IAHA National ride rules a
great deal.

Lots of riders here in Ohio do both endurance and CTR (or maybe LD and
CTR). In CTR, you can't get off your horse unless you stop your forward
progress and you must complete the ride within a specified bracket of
time. There is a rule that no ride can be paced at more than 7.0 miles
per hour, but I don't see any tack rules. No judges hiding in the bushes
either! The horse is the only creature being judged and all horses are
judged on condition. Lack of good recoveries amount to a significant
deduction, which is a good way to learn how to take care of the horse
over a distance. (I'm learning, I'm learning!!!)

There's other rules about what you can and can't use on your horse (no
ice is one), but I won't bore you all with those details.

So, maybe you would like doing CTR, just not NATRC CTR. C'mon up to
Ohio!
