On the other hand, from a RM's perspective, there have been many times that 
we have received entries w/o check, ordered awards, food, supplies, and had 
said prospective riders either cancel at the last minute or simply not show 
up.  This is strictly a NO-NO.  This leaves RMs very annoyed with losses out 
of pocket!  As far as I am concerned, from now on -- no check, no entry.  Or 
perhaps entered, but don't plan on food or awards.  It is not our goal to 
make money from our rides, but it's also not our goal to lose money working 
so hard to manage a ride for others' enjoyment.
