BOZ saddle foam pads ..ouch

I ride in an older BOZ with the sheepskin pads. The new pads come just
foam. A friend was riding a 100 in his BOZ with the new style pads. His
mare scalded and took the hair off in the wither area both sides. He has
a few hundred miles on her in this saddle and lots of conditioning
rides. This saddle fits her great but on the 100 this weekend she got
skinned. I have never had a problem with mine but would be VERY leery of
the new pad system. I was going to order a set for a spare but I know
now that I will want the sheepskin coated ones.
Anyone else had this problem????
