I picked up a great bute solving trick recently from a friend.  Coke (regular 
or diet) will dissolve bute in a few minutes.  Roughly 2-3 tablespoons or so 
of (freshly opened) coke per bute tablet.  Haven't tried Pepsi or other 
carbonated drinks, but works great (plus the sweetner in the coke seems to 
make the bute more palatable to the horse).
