Carrying (using) a crop

There's a story about someone who wanted to build a house. Asked a
bricklayer what kind would be best, and he said "brick". Asked a
carpenter and he said "wood".

The point is that you use the tools and materials you have at hand to
solve problems and if you can solve problems that way, you tend to not
look to other solutions - even if there are better ones out there. So,
if you carry a whip in your hand, it will be the tool you use. If you
carry no tools but your brain, that will be the tool you use.

I would not advise anyone to give up their riding crop if that's what
they need. But, forgive me for bluntness, but there are plenty of
people out there who can train and handle horses without using anything
but their brains. You use what you choose to use. And your choices
reflect who you are. Lif
