Re: RC: hobbles

I don't hobble my 1 yr. old, but when he was about 5 or 6 months old, I took
him to a metropark with a friend and her pony. We were just getting my colt
used to things like a walk in the woods and scary things like cars. Well, I
was walking him with a longe line with a chain on the end, doubled and
snapped to just the ring on his halter. Anyway, we were standing about 10
feet from the road, he was grazing and he stepped into the chain. He lifted
his head and his foot went with it. AT that time, a UPS truck and a chip
truck went by. Big noises. He just looked at me and stood still until I
unsnapped it. He's my first baby and I'm learning fast what dangerous things
can happen. I think the reason he didn't freak was because since he was
really little, I would put him out with a halter and a lead rope that just
dragged the ground by about 2 feet. He got used to things wrapped around his
legs Worth it big time! Deb
