Branding near or off side?

Regarding the question of branding on the near or off side, I contacted
a friend of mine who is the president of our local horse rescue
organization.  She immediately contacted a Texas slaughter house for
information.  Here is her message to me:


>I thought that was such a good question, I called Bel-Tex right
away & asked them.  They said the inspectors inspected "the whole
horse" because of lip tatoos and such, plus the Ostrich's have
chips inserted into their necks, so the inspector has to look all
around the neck for it.
