Hi. I use a neoprene girth and I like it alot. Never had a problem. My mare 
is quite round too. It's easy to clean and soft on their bellies. She tends 
to get fungus that itches her on the girth and I've ridden her with no 
problem because I think the girth is cushier. Deb
