bears

My very first endurance ride entailed bear, athough only bear scat.  The
horse was eager to go on up the trail.  It was after about a half hour of
riding without seeing any ribbons, and by at least the third blackberry
stained bear pile that I decided I really was not on the trail and should
make my way back.  Never encountered the bear.

Loved the riding, though, and been at endurance since then.
