Re: Radials vs. bias



CAUTION. Do not replace bias ply truck tires with radials one at time. The
steering characteristics of the vehicle may be substantially altered. If it
is necessary to mix, keep the same type on both sides of each axle and put
the radials on the rear axle. I rolled a Triumph years ago because I made
the mistake of radials on the front. Didn't see any difference until the car
planed in some water and discovered what had normally been a very stable
understeer characteristic has become a very strong oversteer. Fishtailed a
couple of times then spun 180 and slid off the road backwards pulling a tire
in the soft dirt and flipped. Fortunately, I crawled out unscathed.

As for mixing on the trailer, I have no idea what if any problems could
ensue.
