calcium content in types of alfalfa

Kristi iluvdez@yahoo.com
I couldn't find any info on this in the archives...
I prefer to feed straight grass hay, but would like
to add some type of alfalfa for the calcium content,
especially at rides (yes, I know I need to feed daily
so no diet change shock)...what is preferable
for the most calcium - pellets, cubes, bagged compacted
alfalfa hay, or alfalfa hay from the local fields?
Or does it really matter? None of the bags say anything
about it; they just list the protein, fibre, etc...Kristi
