Compair the stress on the arms from doing a standard pushup to standing leaning
against the wall and pushing out.  The maximum stress is when you are
horizontal doing push ups.  Nowbody get their panties in a twist, hand stand
pushup are cover below.  The more you elavate your head the more weight is
transfered to the legs.  This is what happens to a hores going up hill and it
is why going uphill is "weight lifting for a horse"   It is easier on the front
legs but harder on the rear legs.

Of course if you go the other way, feet higher than the shoulders, then the
stress on the arms increase untill you are standing on your hands and doing
pushups.  Try about 20 of those :-).  This is the same as a horse going
downhill - increases stress on the front legs.
