sore white horses

Sometimes if you close your eyes and run your hand over the horse's withers,
you can feel where the hair is a different texture than the rest of the
coat: rougher, shorter, etc.  Also, sometimes you can actually feel a
hardened patch like a callous under the hair.  I had a grey horse like this
and before I changed her saddle (after I bought her), you could feel where
the previous owner's saddle had fit her poorly.  Worth a try.
