Stables

Greetings everyone ... I just checked out a stable. It's
about 20 minutes from me. I felt like I missed something
though. The place is called Viewpoint, and it's in the
middle of nowhere -- there is alot of county dirt road to
ride on. There are two barns with stalls, and several
outdoor paddocks. You can board your horse in either. The
indoor arena is in the middle of the big barn with stalls
along the east and west wall. There is a walkway all the
way around the indoor arena. There is a washrack and two
tack rooms. There are several of the owner's own horses
and several boarders. The owner lives like 50' from the
big barn, and his nephew's quarters are attached to the
little barn. There are boarders in the little barn, but if
horses get ill they swap those horses out and put the ill
ones in the little barn -- there is a camera monitoring
system in the little barn for that reason. His hay looks
good (I don't know much about hay), but it was dry and
clean smelling if that makes sense. His grain looked clean
too. There are quite a few horses there, but the whole
place had a basic clean look to it. A little rough around
the edges maybe, and there is some construction going on,
and the outdoor paddocks haven't had their spring turning
yet (weather considerations), but it's a rainy day here
and the water flow looked good. He seemed like a nice guy
and it looks like he knew what he was doing. The board
is inline or a little cheaper than what is average around
here. Oh, and the stall doors have the windows that open
so the horses can chat. He does have 5 stallions of his
own -- paints. But it's an all breed barn (I've ran into
a few barns that are Arab or QH only), so that helps. It
sounds like most of his folks are trail riders. The horse
looked like they were in good shape for the most part --
there were a couple that had a slight outline of ribs. I'm
thinking of wandering out there randomly sometime this week
to see if I can catch him off gaurd. There is no trainer,
but I'm picky on that anyway. Oh well, what did I miss?

I think I like this place, but I still have a few to check
out.

Thanks for listening to me ramble!
