biotin

The only limiting factor is that
the body doesn't store excess biotin---anything beyond about 15-20 mg a day
just gets dumped into the pee puddle.  But according to the research,
supplementing with a bit more biotin than is naturally supplied in the diet
apparently boosts it from "adequate" up to the "optimal" levels---which is
generally what we're looking for in caring for our ponies.
Susan,
I have been using Biotin Plus, which , I believe, has 50mg/scoop, for a horse who had splitting, thin hoof walls. It has made a big difference in the strength of his hooves. I remember that my vet recommended a product with D-cal something and methionine, both of which are in Biotin Plus. It is quite expensive. If the extra biotin is peed out, do you know of another product with enough biotin and also the other supplements? Thanks.
Mary
