saddles

Hi Kris:

Once again I find myself several days behind in keeping up with ridecamp
posts. My husband and I have both ridden Marciantes (not the same one!)
for about 5 years. Together we have over 1,000 competition miles plus the
conditioning miles as well as my husbands active participation in BCH of
Nevada, riding the Sierras on awful trails doing trail repair, clearing
etc. We have used these two saddles on 4 horses and did have to send one
back to Frank for modification. Also we have had to change our padding
set-up sometimes when the horses back changes, we go to a new horse, or are
doing extensive mountain riding. None of our horses have ever had a sore
back including riding one on a 100 and coming up with a sound back.
Sometimes I wonder how much of it is saddle, how much padding and very
definitely how much is the rider. Just food for thought. Oh, one more
thing....a friend of ours bought my husbands old McClintock 'cause he tried
two Big Horns and couldn't get either one to fit horse or him. You figure!!.
