Whooo boy.  Hope you're wearing your asbestos suit now, buddy!  I think that
if you look at the "class and breeding" of the top endurance horses even the
"backyard" types you'll be able to see the class (breeding) that they come
from and it is also a consistent predictor of success.  To say that ANY horse
can win a 100 miler if the weather and conditions are right is ludicrous.
Endurance does take more time, miles, training, time, time, time, conditioning
and allowing the horse to grow up instead of running the hell out of them at 2
and then retiring them to stud at 3 or 4.  Obviously, you're a thoroughbred
person and not an endurance person (maybe you got onto the wrong discussion
group?).  Hmmmm, didn't intend to flame you (I'll let more knowledgeable
Ridecampers do that).  Good luck!
