end to this Farrier thread!

For now anyway, there is an end to MY story. My farrier came last
night, raining (sorry, the one thing I don't have is a covered area,
and in 4 years, he has only gotten rained on 3 times, pretty good I'd
say, in fact we joke about it.) Anyway, 7:30 I have my horse caught,
hoof cleaned and waiting in the driveway when my farrier shows up.
Replaces the wedge pad and shoe, apologizing the whole time for not
calling me back, and apologizing for the shoe coming off. (He
explained it that he nailed the shoe on with LOWER nails, so that if
it did come off, it wouldn't tear up the hoof wall with nail holes. He
also rasped the edges where he clenches, just so it doesn't tear so
badly.)But he did say, because he set the shoe with lower nails, that
it helped the mud suck off the shoe easier.
OK, for the rest, when he finished, I double-checked our time for our
next appt. and thanked him for coming back out, but for once, I didn't
offer to pay. (Felt a little guilty, but it helped remembering all the
ridecamp posts which justified how I felt.) He didn't ask for me to
pay, I felt like he was waiting for me to offer, but I didn't.

Thanks again for all the advice and opinions!

Heidi (and Mighte El Donte who is standing a bit more level
now...."Mom, are you sure he can see what he is doing to my foot with
just those truck lights? And can you tell him to hurry, my tummy is
growling!"
