In the Southeast we have our own "professional timer" Nancy Gooch. Nancy
became so popular as a timer at rides that it's almost a shock when she's
not there. Believe me, it's a load off a manager's mind to know she's in
charge.

SERA recognizes Nancy every year and she and her husband have been given
things like a weekend at a golf resort, etc. in appreciation. This year
it was a new set of tires for her van. Most rides also pay her
"something" but she always tries to turn it down. We pay her, and I
think most others do, but she doesn't require it.

Now, if we start giving WORKER awards...I'm afraid Nancy Gooch and Nina
Gibson are going to be the "Trilby Pedersons" of that division.

I guess I just had vets in mind since they often don't come to the awards
conventions and such, but I know they get the newsletter. I'd just like
for them to see their names up against who's behind and in front of them
in the "mileage". Might get Ken Marcellus to agree to do "one more" ride
this year.
