Re: RC: Walking Horse/endurance

Since I haven't been around I didn't see the original Yep, I have both
walking horses, Arabs and part Arabs. Misty ( a walking horse mare )
was my first endruance horse. We learned together and thank goodness
she has an extremely strong constitution since I probably made a lot of
mistakes.

She has almost 2000 miles - the almost will be changed after this foal
and I can whip her back into shape. She has done the ROC.

After riding both breeds I think there are some differences in training
required for each breed (TWH vs. Arab). If anyone is interested in my
observations on this, you can E-mail me privately.

Needless to say riding a walking horse is a bit more comfortable than
riding an Arab. Also walking horses seem to be a bit less spooky than
the Arabs. While I have never done a multiday ride with the mare -
hopefully to be changed in the future - I think that is where a walking
horse might just shine.
