No problem! I was just exchanging email with a friend I made at
convention, Lauren, and I said that sometimes we don't realize just how
easy it is to become an insider...

The surefire method for me has always been to invest in the people or
groups that I want respect from... help out, contribute... show that I
care. The magic words are "How can I help?" open door and hearts...

You don't need to turn back the clock, but next year come find me and
we'll hang out a bit... some of the best people in the world belong to
AERC... you'll find out!

(you don't realize it, but you just stuck that hand out to a whole lot
of folks...!)
