torn tendon

My horse tore a tendon in his right hind, an inch over fetlock, in June of
last year. In November, the vet cut a ligament because inflammation wouldn't
go away. I was told by my vet to do 2 weeks of walking, 2 weeks of trot walk
and in 3 months he should be back 100%. Has anyone had similar experience
with their horse and if so, did the horse come back 100% sound? I would also
appreciate any advice you have to offer.
Thanks,
Pam
