helmet colors

I will be buying a helmet soon and was wondering if color makes a
difference as far as heat goes.  I'd like to get a navy one but am worried
that it might bake my head.  I live in VT, where it can get hot and humid
in the summer but I will not be riding in direct sunlight constantly.

Will the dark color absorb the sunlight and then *retain* it when I then
ride into shade?  Or does the shinyness just cancel heat absorption out?
Any advice would be welcome.
