Shoot, I am not sure who the racers are 'cause I generally see them in the 50
- and many are prepared for it - :) but sheesh! We sometime stake a camera to
take pictures...Ah..to be the ultimate rubbeneck! Some of us truly do it for
the sport of it!

Hi Rachel,
I think there are more of us out there than some people think... we are
not ALL out there hell bent for leather, racing our horses into the
ground (if that's really what we wanted to do we could save our money
and the trip and do that at home!). I went through this before on
Ridecamp about LD not being endurance and what not...I won't even go
into it. But there IS a sense of pride in completing an LD and we
shouldn't be made to feel less if we also manage to place well!!! I
plan to do 50s this year but I also plan to use the LD format in the
future in conditioning my horses and myself! Yes, the completion is the
prize and I am sure I will get flamed for false pride and all the
bullpuckey but when I pay $40 plus, I would at least appreciate
acknowledgement of our placing (if I do) and a ribbon that cost a buck
or two is not too much to ask. If this seems silly, too bad, but I
enjoy seeing my ribbons (comp and LD) on the board with my kids' 4-H
ribbons and my daughter's distance riding ribbons, too!! People DO need
to lighten up! Distance riding is supposed to be fun!!

P.S. At least here in Michigan we DO get recognition and some nice
ribbons! Thanks Michigan Ride Managers!!
