RC; regional differences

Howard,
I for one agree with you. I manage the Hallelujah Benefit Ride in So.
Carolina. At my ride juniors ride free. One reason is that an adult MUST
accompany them on the trail. There are so many expenses for families,
and horses are not "cheap" to keep. If a child can get in shape and keep
a horse in shape to do this sport there are so many benefits and
character building side effects that it is worth it. The two or three
juniors that enter each distance here in the SE will not break the bank
for a ride manager, and it enables families to participate together.
I am a grandmother of eight. All my grandchildren ride horses, but only
one, so far, does endurance. She does it well, and has grown in ways
that cannot be measured because of participating in this sport. Juniors
will continue to ride free at the Hallelujah Ride. Non-members pay the
$10.00 fee, as required by AERC.
Thanks for your support of children riding free. It's not really "free"
for them. It just makes it easier for them to be involved.
Lucie Hancock, for Christi, Amanda, Jamie, Heather, Dustin, Dylan,
Chandler and Adam.
