Multi Days

Is there any "rule of thumb" about when a horse is ready for multi days?
I have a gelding that is just going to start 50's. He has done 5 or so
LD rides and lately has run them fast with still much horse left over.
He is in great condition. He has been only doing endurance for under one
year and is 11 years old. I'm wondering if I can go on a multi day with
only 2 50's under our belt or should I do a year of 50's on him before I
attempt multi days.

Lauren
