I use a bit other than a snaffle mainly because I have an Arab who is very hot, and in order to have any control in a pack of horses (especially at the beginning of a race), I need that extra help. I usually change bits as Beau begins to calm down, sometimes to the point of not even needing a bit, which is how I prefer it. Christine & Beau
