saddle pad

I am now the proud owner of a Big Horn synthetic saddle (square
skirt) and wonder if any of you have any words of wisdom about which
would be the best saddle pad.  My horse is long backed and high
withered.  

I am looking at my new Wiese catalog and on page 15 it shows a S.Mx
for $89 or the "Cool Back for $50.  Has anyone out there had any
experience with these pads or have any recommendations for me.
