It's always worth remembering that horses live and breathe like we do and
are not to be treated like a bicycle. 

Sends a shiver down your spine. Last night I went up to my yard and found my
mare curled up in her box fast asleep - bless her. She opened one eye to say
hello and I felt so relieved that I had planned to give her the day off
anyway and ride my other horse. She had worked hard the day before and
judging from her sleepy face was not into a repeat performance. 

Of course she did get up later on after I had ridden Spot to see if there
was any spare dinner going.
