The weather was actually pretty decent -- cooler than most years.  Other
things to consider: 1. it was a controlled start at the walk:  horses
seemed to get to Squaw a little slower, 2. the 15 minute hold at Michigan
was an ADDITION -- usually there are only the two one-hour holds, 3. the
new trail at Cavanagh Ridge was an additional 1.5 miles.
And just maybe the horses were slower, or the riders more sensible, than in
prior years --
