Re: Human leg cramps

Missed the conversations about above due to vacation visitors . Am adding my
2 cents cause just potassium is not an easy remedy. Cramps are most commonly
caused by a calcium/magnesium imbalance and/or vitamin E deficiency. Poor
circulation can be a contributor as well so one needs to determine cause and
effect for/of the malady. General helpful factors recommended by many
nutritional/educational sources give amounts of cal/mag intakes, plus vitamin
E which has to be built on slowly and potassium especially for folks who don't
eat potas rich foods or might be on Blood pressure meds. If the cramps are
occuring during the day while active, see a doctor before self diagnosing.
Excellent resource material in Presciptions for Nutritional Healing by James
F. Balch, M.D. Can be found at health food stores, bookstores, and library.
Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition is key. Follow up with screenings for heart
disease and diabetes, or even sed rates for arthritis or fibromyalgia. Have
been amazed by some of the things I see in print and net, lots of
misinformation and easy answers, and wish schools would make health and
nutrition education more interesting and personal for kids and parents alike.
Horses like humans benefit from proper diet, exercise and health awarenss i.e.
health problem prevention.
Sorry but health, horses, medical research are my passions.
