Re:Mares in foal

Julie,

In response to your post about "Mares in foal will not be permitted"
being in your ride brochure, a lot of rides have first time riders
who are not members of AERC and they are not aware of AERC rules. I have
a ride brochure which reads:
RULES
1. The ride management reserves the right to interpret the following
rules and regulations and to arbitrarily settle any questions which may
arise from or in connection with or incident to this ride.
2. Horses must be at least five years old for 55 Miler. Horses must be
four years old or older for 25 Miler. Mares in foal will not be
permitted.
Rule #1 says it all Rule #2 explains to a first time rider, who is not a
member of AERC, what distance they can ride their horse depending on
age and conditioning and tells them that a "Mare in foal is not allowed"
The rules stated in this brochure are there to help new riders not
cause question for AERC members who should know the rules. Sorry if the
brochure confused you but not all riders are members of AERC the first
time they enter a ride and they need to know these rules that is why
they are stated in the ride brochure.

Hope this helps,
Gail
