I have found this to happen in more than one horse.  No way
is Magnum allowed anywhere near Equine Senior... even though
he loves it.

Instead he gets alfalfa pellets soaked into a mash (15 minutes with
cold water, less with warm).  Into that goes a bit of generic rice
bran, 2 lbs whole oats, .5 lb rolled corn, and all his supplements.
He loves this almost as much.  He's not allowed to have refined
(expensive) rice bran products either since they had the same
effect.
