What a great time following the historic 'Meek' trail-hosted by Heidi. Cold in
the mornings, warm afternoons floating across salt flats, sage, dessert, lava
rocks, other various horse eating rocks, sand and a few occasional trees. A
one hour vet hold halfway thru the day with all hay supplied[weed free]. We
laughingly followed Heidi's subaru tracks[she should really be in a commercial
with that car as she used it to mark the whole trail with lime arrows-
including one flat tire with a leaky hydraulic jack that had her driving out
on the rim to reach civilization] -staying up to 2:30 am to make sure there
were enough water barrels out on the trail for all the horses and up at the
crack of dawn to see the horses off and rush ahead to open a few of the many
gates-must have opened 20 barbed wire gates-a very well marked trail-had a
superb time-everyone was friendly and jovial with a big bonfire at night and a
narated historical day by day trial of the original Meek party. Trilby was
there to bring up the drag-one of the eight that made it all 5 days on the
same horse. Others like myself had a back up horse and alternated. I was
really sad come saturday when everyone packed up to leave-wanted to go another
day and so did my horses[they get more treats at rides]-thanks much Heidi-too
bad the Meeks didn't have your subaru!!!!!!!!!!!!!
