Well folks,
When I had my saddle fit I was happy. Then winter came and I discover these
white hairs, in the oddest of places!
Enter my first dressage lesson. What an experience that was! My "new improved"
stance is this:

I am the cause of Feather's grief, I admit it! So many riders are quick to
blame everything under the sun for their horse's discomfort. It's the saddle,
it's my horse's conformation, it's my horse's attitude problem, it was rainy
that day, the wind was blowing, on and on and on. One lesson was all I needed
to realize that I am the cause of those white hairs, which happen to be right
where my behind goes!! My instructor spent the entire hour chiding " You're on
his back again, get into your two point position, onto your front, off your
rear!!!" On and on it went! :-0

I stand corrected! My goal for the remainder of the winter is to "Relearn" how
to ride. If more of us took responsibility for our horse's shape there would
be no sore backs, no white hairs, and more saddles that FIT!!! Amazingly!

This is all said with a grin on my face, humor in my tone, and all seriousness
in my intent. I expect my mare to take us through 75 and 100 miles next
season. I have to give her a full arsenal to fight with!

Happy trails to you all and Happy New Year!!
