YES!!!!! I always use one if the weather is the least bit cool (and I live in
Florida) or wet. I got mine from Lovell of Mack. It is wonderful. Attaches
easily to the saddle, can be tied up or let down easily while mounted, doesn't
shift and has lasted three years (although the rubber type backing is starting
to wear in some places). I usually don't have to worry about being caught at
a vet check when the weather changes or the wind picks up. I can let my rump
rug down and keep his rear end warm. As far as overheating, I can always roll
it up, but I'd rather err on the side of being warm than to have him get
chilled.
