I see that no one has responded to to post asking about mustangs for endurance, so I'll give my opinion.
I ride a wild mustang from Nevada. She does very well in both endurance and CTR. She adapts well to high temps. and humidity, a majot plus for summer rides. She is the most sure footed horse I've ever ridden, and has good recovery rates. She also, like the horse mentioned in the post, has wonderful gaits. I think that if you like your mustang, give him a chance.
