I am just starting Endurance riding and I would like some information on feed. I currently feed a mix of Sweet feed 12% Protein, 3% Fat and 13% Fiber with an addition of 8% Protein, 4% Fat cracked corn. Thats 7.5 lbs of sweet feed and 1.5 lbs of cracked corn with a Cup of Corn Oil and day for a 1000 lb horse and he is maintaining his weight on this current feeding plan. The horse can use a little more engery and I was told that I should change to a sweet feed that is lower in Fiber and increase the cracked corn.
Will this make a difference?

I like the sweet feed because it already contains several Vitamins and Minerals to help balance the horses diet. The roughage the horse gets is from pasture and the only time he gets hay is out on over night stays. I have read about every article on this site and I could not find any information about this.

Thanks
Jerry
