Does anyone know Jim's e-mail? I would like to ask him for a friend
of mine about a muscle injury...or anyone who could also advise me.
My friend has a horse that earlier this summer fell and sustained a
torn shoulder muscle. ultrsound confirmed it and she just had a repeat
ultrasound showing the muscle after 4 mos. half way healed. The vet
gave her a poor prognosis as an endurance horse.
I did not think a torn muscle was so devastating considering the many
human althletes that suffer muscle injuries.
My question: is a torn muscle that crippling even after given time to
heal?
What is the best thing to do for this horse to help speed healing and
chances for it to go back to an endurance career? The horse does not
show lameness except after a flexion test and is short strided on that
side. I would like to be able to give her some good news...any
advice?
Thanks, Linda
