RE: Gaited Horses

Just a comment/question on Carol B's post. Was the vet expecting the
gaited horse to trot in the "trot-out" and not do another gait, even
though the other gait is done perfectly fine and without showing any
signs of lameness/shortness of stride? Would a fox trot be any less
determinative of lameness or CRI (if that is being measured)
than a plain old trot? I don't think so.
I thought some gaited horses don't even have the "trot" as part of
their natural gaits?
I guess vets need to become accustomed to evaluating other gaits
which may be presented to them by gaited horses, which are
different but "equivalent to", the trot.
