Just an anecdotal comment about this. As with many endurance horses, my
horse tended to get diminished gut sounds as a
ride progressed, generally finishing 50-mile rides with vet scores of B
or C. About a year ago I started dosing him with probiotics before
the ride and each time that I gave him electrolytes. His vet scores on
gut sounds turned into all A's. He also started eating
better during the holds. For whatever reason, it works for us.
