I've read all these posts about fly spray and natural spray and all
that. I can tell you that we do not use ANY FLY SPRAY at all since we
started buying the fly predators. We have four horses in about a 3/4
acre dry lot. We don't do anything special with the manure but each
year I call the fly predator people (they advertise in all the
magazines) and order 5000 eggs per month from April to September (may
vary with your area). This costs me about $12 per month and it works
great!!! I have used them for three years and haven't bought any fly
product except one can of Wipe for the gnats. These predators don't do
anything to the deer flies or the huge horse flies because they breed in
water. But they do knock the heck out of the regular stable flies that
breed in manure. My shoer loves to come here cause there are so few
flies. I do keep masks on them but those millions of flies that used to
drive them crazy and BITE, are gone. And YOU never see the predators,
they're nocturnal. Highly recommend them to anyone.
