On Saturday, November 1, 1997 Riverside County Animal Care and Control
auction approximately 26 purebred Arabian horses. The horses were seized
on October 10 in a Moreno Valley-Pigeon Pass area in a animal neglect
case.

The horses have gained a substantial amount of weight and received medical
care. Persons buying horses for immediate resale or as meat animals are not
welcome at the sale. Buyers will be required to sign a companion animal
contract.

The horse considered to be the most valuable is a twelve year-old stallion
by the name of Perladen. Perladen is well mannered, is supposed to be
trained in western pleasure and is the son of Wayne Newton's famous
stallion ARN-ETT Perlane. The minimum bid on Perladen is $800 plus a
refundable gelding deposit of $100 with proof of gelding. Also to be sold
is one of the few remaining living daughters of Azraff a famous stallion.

The minimum bid on stallions is $200 plus a $100 gelding deposit. Minimum
bid on mares and geldings is $300. No horses will be sold below minimum
bid. This is an all CASH sale.

All horses have been vet checked, wormed and have had their feet trimmed.
They are being sold "as is" but any known information gathered by
veterinarians will be disclosed at the time of sale.
The sale will take place at Ingalls park in Norco. Take the sixth street
exit off the 15 and go east about two miles. Ingalls Park is one street
east of California. Preview will begin at 9 a.m. and the sale will begin
promptly at 11 a.m. Participants are requested to bring their own
halters.

The County expects to file 14 felony counts of animal cruelty against the
former owner of the horses sometime this week.

Photo opportunities of the horses are available at Ingalls Park in Norco.
Arrangements can be made by calling Riverside County Animal Care and
Control or Norco City Animal Control.
