Fort Valley Congrats

Jeanne Waldron won the 50, Patti Pizzo won the 100, and Debi Gordon
won the 150 at Fort Valley. (Thanks, Barb)

A few details, far from official results: Jeanne Waldron won a very
competitive 50 and took high vet score on Rambo. Peggy Thompson and
her Sun Bey were close behind, with Pat Oliva 3rd I think, and
Adrienne Hewitt riding Fair Chance 4th. Bob Walsh rode his hot little
gray Egyptian Houdini (Aries stayed home) to an impressive 6th place
finish. Lani Newcomb, DVM, just elected Old Dominion president,
finished 10th on a Thoroughbred/Welsh cross mare.

Luke Steele, our Aussie visitor nearing the completion of his
two-month American "ridecamp tour," rode the 50 on Kevin and Brenda
Baird's lovely young Anglo-Arab mare, Iris. He did a great job and the
pair came through in fine shape, looking like they could have gone on
another day.

Patti Pizzo was storming along in front for most of the day and was
leading the 100 by a wide margin with one lap to go on Sunday. Last I
heard, all eight starters in the three-day 150 were still going strong
-- including Nancy Smart, Debi Gordon, Holly U. from Colorado, Susan
Ashenfelter, Joanna Blackmore and more.

after popping a splint on the ROC

<<<<<Just wanted to offer congratulations to Bob Walsh riding his big
horse Aries and Pat Taylor riding Elvis (barn names) on their 6th and
7th

placing in the Fort Valley 50 miler. I understand it rained cats
and
dogs on friday night and Bob and Pat decided to pass on the 100
mile
ride and go for a competitive 50. Pat tells me there were three
big

mountains to climb and that there was one descent that she had to
get
off and lead down and believe me, featherweight Taylor doesn't do
a

lot of walking. The unofficial Southern Maryland Racing Team was
further filled out by Nancy Smart riding the the 100 or perhaps
the

150 but I don't have any word yet about how she and Zarra did.

Anyone have the final placings?
