I've only had one experience with Adequan, but, as Tom states, it was
nothing short of miraculous. This was back when you had to inject it
into the joint. I had a horse who had had stifle problems and surgery
made it worse (The attending vet did not x-ray before the surgery..but
that is a whole other story....) We injected both stifle joints with
Adequan and the effect was instantaneous...my horse that was lame 30
minutes before was completely sound. We followed up with 2 or three
(been a long time and I forget) injections spaced a week or two apart. I
think I had this horse about 5 years after this episode and never had
any stifle problems with him in this time...unfortunately he foundered
severely and we had to put him down, so I don't know if this would have
been a permanent fix, or it we would have had to do it again. Still,
five years of soundness for about a $450 investment was money well spent
in my book...

I would do it again in a heartbeat. And now I understand you can inject
it IM and don't have to risk injecting into the joint...
